More Girls on Bikes: Von Hof Cycles Outfits Junior Rider at Ellen Noble's CX Quest Camp
We are stoked to be a part of this story of the cycling community working together to get more girls on bikes. Earlier this year we were fortunate enough to meet some of the amazing people behind Team-Not-Team: DC Women and Bikelocross. The group hosts CX race clinics, gear nights and talks at local shops, social rides, training rides, and other community building events. They have done an incredible job of promoting women's CX racing and this year set their sights on supporting junior girls. After Ayesha McGowan published her call for greater representation in cyling, Team Not Team reached out to Ellen Noble to see if she'd reserve a spot among her scholarship athletes at CX Quest camp for the group to send a junior rider of color. Of course she agreed.
The scholarship recipient, Kat Sejas, 15, is a rider with Trails for Youth. She has been mountain biking for 3 years and now has the opportunity to learn to ride CX from one of the best in the world. She will then come back and co-host clinics and seminars with Team Not Team to inspire other young riders to learn and race CX.
But first she needs a proper 'cross bike, which is where we come in. We are proud to send Kat to camp on a VonHof CX frame. We put together a 50cm steel ACX for Kat with help from our friends at Ritchey Design on the cockpit and wheels.
We know she will have a blast at camp and will keep you posted with any updates we receive. For now please join us in wishing Kat all the best at camp and beyond.
