Von Hof Racers at the New Jersey State Championship and Cycle-Smart International Races

The Von Hof CX bikes made their rounds across the East Coast last weekend. Tony Utitus headed to the Westwood Velo “Cross For a Cure For Kids” Cyclocross Race held at Anthony Wayne Recreation Area at Harriman State Park. Not only was this race #7 of 8 in the NJ CX Cup Series. It was also the New Jersey State Championship race, ironically held in New York.

Early morning racers were treated to some very cold pre-ride laps as temperatures hovered in the upper 30’s but the day warmed up nicely as racing got underway. The approximately two-mile course featured two steep run-ups and a hearty set of stairs. Despite those difficult inclines, the course was fast which produced some great racing.

Jeremy Zeidner again topped the podium for the second week in a row in the Cat 4 Masters 40+ race with Steven Sillett and David Adornato rounding out the top three.  Von Hof Master Ambassador Tony Utitus cracked the top 10 with a solid 8th place finish.

In addition to his second place finish, Sillett was crowned the NJ State Champion in the Cat 4 Masters 40+ category with Adornato taking the silver and “comeback rider of the year” candidate Chris LaBudde putting in a great race for the bronze medal. Von Hof Ambassador Tony Utitus nearly climbed on the podium finishing fourth in the State Championship race.

Westwood proved to be a very suitable venue for some very quality NJ CX Cup and State Championship racing.

Further north, in Massachusetts, the Cyclocross Magazine Racing Team, equipped with Von Hof CX bikes, headed back to UCI racing action at the Cycle-Smart International race, the oldest UCI cyclocross race in the United States.

Kathryn Cumming once again started from a front row call up on both days, and managed to get her best result in New England twice on the weekend, taking two seventh-place finishes. She can be seen trailing the leaders in Dirtwire.tv's highlights of the race as shown below. Next up, the Cyclocross Magazine Racing Team along with the Von Hof Masters Ambassador will head out to Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, NJ next weekend for the 8th and final race (SCCX) of the NJ CX Cup Series.  Racers will be battling for those ever important final race points needed to claim the overall series titles that are up for grabs.
